This is an update for City Council and residents regarding the ongoing power outage impacting our community and the possibility of power outages continuing through the weekend.

Power Status:

Southern California Edison (SCE) has informed us that the power outage may continue throughout the weekend.

Currently, GTHS has power, the other schools are without power. After school services are terminated at 3:30 pm. As of now, school session will resume as normal.

Barton Street has very limited power, businesses currently operational are Baskin Robbins, Loud Burger, Piara Pizza, Rapha Tea, Starbucks, Stater Bros, and Wing Stop.

Additional Resources for Residents:

We currently have two (2) local City staffed Warm Centers set-up and scheduled throughout the weekend, until power is restored.

  1. City Hall – Open and staffed 24 hours a day until power is restored.
  2. Senior Center – Open from 8 AM to 8 PM daily until power is restored.

There are two (2) local Community business Warm Centers set-up (these are not City staffed warm centers).

  1. LowBrow Ink – Contact for business hours (909) 533-4666.
  2. Get Loaded – Open regular business hours 10:00 am to 6:00 pm and Sunday 11: 00am to 4:00 pm.

Additionally, there are two (2) Community Resource Centers (CRCs) located in San Bernardino that provide information, charging stations, water, light snacks, and resiliency kits.

  2. Rudy C. Hernandez Community Center 222 N. Lugo Ave., 92411
  • For clarification, the City is not providing generators to residents; however, we do have two (2) generators available for shared use: at the City staffed Warm Centers (City Hall and the Senior Center). If you plan to use these generators, please bring the necessary chargers for your devices, as we do not have chargers available on hand.

City Hall has a refrigerator for any medications required to be refrigerated only.

Furthermore, we are working on having food trucks stationed at City Hall from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm. Residents may purchase a warm meal.

Maintenance & Cleanup: 

    • Maintenance crews are continuously removing debris to ensure safety throughout the City.
    • The street sweeper is scheduled to clean main streets on Monday (1/13/25), including Barton Road, Mount Vernon Avenue, Pico Street, Michigan Street, Van Buren Street, Main Street, and De Berry Street.

For businesses only, we have a freezer truck at City Hall to store frozen inventory if needed. Space is limited to a first come first serve basis.

We want to provide you with an important update regarding the ongoing power outage. As of today, the street sweeper will be running all day today, and we plan to have it on the main streets again on Monday.

Power Status:

Southern California Edison (SCE) has informed us that the power outage may continue throughout the weekend.

We will have staff at the Senior Center all weekend from 8:00 am to 8:00pm and we will have staff at City Hall 24 hours over the weekend.

Currently, the schools are without power, and Thompson Street is also without power. Barton Street has very limited power, with Stater Bros and Starbucks currently operational.

Additional Resources for Residents:

For clarification, the City is not providing generators to residents; however, we do have two (2) generators available for use: one at City Hall and the other at the Senior Center. If you plan to use these generators, please bring necessary chargers for your devices, as we do not have chargers available on hand.

We also have refrigeration for medications that require refrigeration only at City Hall.

We are also preparing to serve warm meals for lunch, water, and light snacks at the Senior Center. Further details, including serving times, will be shared soon.
