Grand Terrace contracts for all trash collection and recycling services for residential, multi-family and commercial / industrial with Burrtec Waste Industries, Inc.
FY 2026-27 Trash Collection Rates
From October 1, 2023, to the end of 2027, annual rate adjustments will be automatically applied, with the condition that the annual maximum rates shall not increase by more than ten percent compared to the previous year's rates. Residents will be notified of the upcoming rate changes via mail at least 30 days before the new rates take effect.
We observe the following Holidays:
January 1 - New Year's Day
May - Memorial Day
July 4 - Independence Day
September - Labor Day
November - Thanksgiving Day
December 25 - Christmas Day
Residential Service
Residential collection Tuesday, Wednesday, or Friday .
Pick up includes recycling, green waste, and trash.
Grand Terrace Residential Collection Map
If a holiday falls on a scheduled collection day, service will be delayed by one day for the remainder of the week. If the holiday falls on a Saturday or Sunday, there will be no interruption in service.

Residential service utilizes a three-cart system consisting of a black cart for trash, a blue cart for recyclable materials, and a green cart for organic and green waste materials.
Bulky Trash
Once a year, on your regular collection day, Burrtec offers a free, curbside, bulky-item collection service. This is a great time to get rid of things like:
- Couches
- Desks and other old furniture
- E-waste (TV's, computers, and other electronic waste)
Please contact Burrtec at least 24 hours in advance of your regular collection day for bulky-item collection. Additional services may be contracted through Burrtec Waste Industries, Inc.
Commercial Collection
Burrtec Waste Industries, Inc offers containers equipped with locking mechanisms to eliminate illegal dumping. All containers are available with plastic, and with or without rolling casters.
Other services Burrtec offers commercial trash customers are:

- Container sizes from two cubic yards to six cubic yards

FY 2026-27 Sewer Rates
The City of Grand Terrace owns its sewer collection system, which is operated and maintained by the City of Colton. Sewer rates are established by the City of Colton and adopted by the City of Grand Terrace for local implementation. Most commercial sewer accounts are billed directly by the City of Colton, while Burrtec bills residential sewer customers, a limited number of grandfathered commercial accounts, and all trash collection services.
